Pantherophis guttatus emoryi found crossing road during heavy thunderstorm.

I suppose you are both correct. Only one Pantherophis in that area so changed accordingly.
The problem is you are listing it under the wrong species in the database.
It is better to list it as P. emoryi and then add your perspective about the taxonomy as a comment.
To me it is P. guttatus emoryi, the Great Plains Ratsnake;)
Most likely this is an Emory's ratsnake, P. emoryi emoryi, because of the habitat. Corn snakes are usually in open pine woodlands. Nice find.. ;)
