Notes
I spotted this snake just off the side of a paved trail.
The snake stayed still while I slowly got the camera out. Picture is in situ, I did not handle this specimen.
Snake bolted when the camera flash startled it.
Sacramento river is about 20 feet behind me when I took the photo.
