Comments
I should add that the cave is large enough for multiple people to fit inside, so I couldn't call it a crack or crevice... walked in the cave, and visually saw the newts and arboreal.
This arboreal and the four newts that were found around the same time were all inside a little cave area. Two of the four newts were in that hole as seen in the photo (http://www.naherp.com/viewrecord.php?r_id=328982), but the other two newts and the arboreal were chillin' on the cave floor amongst the rocks. It was dry inside the cave, so I can't say for certain if Wednesday's rain brought them out. However, the other arboreal seen today along with the ensatinas were found in moist areas a little further away, under logs.
Did the first rain of the season bring this guy out?
