It took two hours of walking these dunes, with no visible herp activity at all, before I spotted this 3" TL juvenile. He posed very well for a fringe-toed lizard and I was able to stand only 4-5 feet away. This land is bordered by development on two sides and may be waiting to be developed itself. In another trip to the same area in June 2010 I found five adults.
