Notes
The snake was first spotted stretched out on a concrete path next to a moist grass lawn. It was partially in the grass lawn and partially on the pavement. It didn't move at all for a couple of minutes and I thought it was dead. When touched lightly with a twig, it coiled and tried to strike back. It was cool out and almost nightfall when I spotted the snake. I almost thought it was a large earthworm or some kind of nightcrawler. We left for a couple of minutes to let a neighbor know and when we returned the snake was gone.
