I saw a branch move and assumed that a lizard was nearby. I poked my head over the edge of a rock wall that was supporting the hillside and saw a large, rusty snake body just a few inches from my nose. It took me a second to register that I was looking at a big coachwhip, and that second was long enough for him to get the heck out of there. No voucher.
