Notes
Curiously, individuals with increased internal melanin have been found under charred logs and crawling through ash in areas long-since stricken by wildfires. Whether the black soot boosted their melanism rouses the imagination. Alligator lizards were also found at this location in 1988 and on February 28, 2004 and August 11, 2004.
