Notes

Noticed virtually everywhere within this canyon system, elevation from 480 to 993 m (1500-3100 ft.) Found year-round, but most prevalent in late winter and spring. During dry conditions enters stream or shelters under objects around spring seepage. When assaulted assumed characteristic warning posture. Newts were also seen at this location on April 4, 1990; April 19, 1990; June 21, 1990; November 11, 1990; March 3, 1991; March 26, 1992; May 18, 1993; October 17, 1995; and July 25, 1996.
