Notes
During light rain, five living newts detected on road. Only one vouchered. Black eyes and dorsal, underside vivid orange with dark band across vent. Oddly one individual examined lacked black, vent band. Measured: SVL 76 mm (3 in.), TL 178 mm (7 in.); SVL 72 mm (2¾ in.), TL 165 mm (6½ in.); SVL 72 mm (2¾ in.), TL 179 mm (7 in.). Newts were found at elevations as low as 700 feet. Road kill was also detected. Newts were also found at this location on November 28, 2000.
