Notes
During cold, frosty weather, five specimens discovered beneath bark of fallen Douglas Firs. Logs possessed firm interior, loose bark, and rested on the ground or above soil, supported by other fallen trees or by odd angle of collapse. Their dorsal pattern is dark with irregular mottling or marbling of lighter gray and pale speckles. Below light gray and unmarked or marked with pale speckles. Four examined: male showing mental gland measured SVL 57 mm (2¼ in.), TL 102 mm (4 in.); male SVL 51 mm (2 in.), TL 89 mm (3½ in.); female SVL 58 mm (2¼ in.), TL 108 mm (4¼ in.); female SVL 58 mm (2¼ in.), TL 108 mm (4¼ in.). Salamanders were later seen at this location on April 2, 2005.
