Notes
I felt extremely fortunate to find this little guy. I was walking one of the many paths at Payne's Prairie and there it was. There were several gopher tortoise holes around and an adult that quickly retreated into its den when I approached. I got up early on this fairly cool morning (upper 50's) and had been walking other trails. It quickly warmed up. It had been pretty uneventful until I found it. This specimen was extremely fearful and would hardly come out of it's shell, unlike some of the other hatchlings I've found.
