in the mountains, I believe it's klauberi
I think this should be San Diego Nightsnake "ochrorhyncha klauberi" on the coast or Desert Nightsnake "chlorophaea deserticola" in the desert.

I think you might have uploaded the wrong picture. Looks sort of like a glossy snake.
