Notes
Observed at Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park. At least 30 of all sizes seen in 30 minutes without trying. Abundant elsewhere, Anolis sagrei were nearly absent from open paved areas where Lieocephalus were conspicuous. Though Lieocephalus is widely and abundantly established throughout ruderal sites in Boca Raton, oddly enough, there are pockets of apparenly not yet colonized habitat, such as Gables Town Place apartments - just under one mile to the north (26°21'30.40"N ; 80° 7'50.00"W). Surrounded by areas occupied by Lieocephalus carinatus, I have yet to see even one at the apartment complex (where I stayed five days most weeks for past two years). I recently observed one specimen as it ate a half dozen blossoms of Impatiens walleriana, colorful non-native annual flowers in landscaping at local Publix supermarket.
