Notes
This particular individual appears to be one of the head started ones. It seems sometimes captive specimens have different shell shapes than wild ones. Appears to have a less smooth & domed shell.
Ornate Box Turtles are listed as an endangered species in Wisconsin. This photograph was taken during a permitted survey of herps. Do not pick up Box turtles if you do not have a permit to do so.
