Saw this one just chilling in the water, then he freaked out when he saw me and tried to hide in the rocks on the bottom. Had earlier heared two turtle-splashes in seperate areas upstream of this pool, but could not verify the species for sure.

Nice. I have been to the Santa Ana Mountains many times and I've never been able to spot any. I'm envious.
They were in the Santa Ana Mountains. I've been back to that stream a few times, and usually seen a couple every time, though I haven't gotten any other pictures.
May I ask exactly where in Riverside County this was?
