At the top of a hill, hiding under what I presume is a cattle water trough.
There were plenty of fence lizards all over the place, these are only two that were photographed.
Subspecies identification by range map, not by morphological trait. They definitely are S occidentalis, however, by morphological trait (heavily keeled scales and yellow on hind limbs).
