Notes
I was surveying a natural debris dump site adjoining a golf course and stumbled upon this young eastern diamondback basking with head tucked. Appears to be last year's baby (2008). I did not move the animal, only nudged it with a stick to get it to show its face. The snake never rattled or attempted to crawl away. I left it as I found it. This was the second warm day following a week of low daytime temps and freezing nighttime drops.
