Notes
This snake was found dead, submerged in a few inches of water at the edge of a large vernal pool. The pool was very full and the water higher than I have ever seen it before. It is possible that this snake's hibernaculum had flooded and it drowned. Another possibility is that it had been moving about during the warm spell of the previous two days (both days saw highs of over 50F)and was killed by a hiker and tossed into the pool.
