My friend Frank T. told me that he used to find ground snakes in his neighborhood, so I asked him to find one for me. He laid out some boards next to his house and watered the ground underneath them heavily for a few weeks. Then he found two ground snakes under his boards. This is the smaller of the two. It was about 7" long.
Frank says every ground snake he has ever seen in his area has been striped.
