Notes

After a thundershower the previous evening, the snake was found crossing a dirt road in the morning. There were no rocks for cover in the surrounding open area of sagebrush, rabbitbrush, shadscale and greasewood. The nearest stream and woodlands of pinyon-pine and juniper were 0.3 mile upward in a mountain canyon.

Beautiful snake and an equally nice picture.
