Notes
Spotted on the crawl in a patch of grass and dead leaves adjacent to a cliff face. Possibly flushed out of its winter hibernaculum by heavy rainfall.

This is a GREAT entry and an important record.. Very Very nice.
This one also seemed to be a little beat up as well, it had a few collapsed ribs and some fresh wounds. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. I'm thinking maybe the rain shifted some rocks and possibly injured it.
I think your thought is the best explanation. 52 is cold, but not cold enough to nothave snakes move...but with all the water I think it's unlikely it'd be out for any other reason than being flushed out. Very cool observation for the species.
