Notes
While hiking up this little side canyon I heard the familiar "buzz" and caught site of an adult willi scurrying under a rock about 10 feet away from me. As I got closer to try to get a better look I noticed a few "smaller" things crawling around. At first my brain didnt comprehend what I was seeing but when it kicked in I shouted out "babies" to the others.
Well after sitting on a boulder above and out of sight of the location (at least out of sight to the snakes) "mom" never came back out. But after sitting there for about 30 minutes the babies began one by one emerging from under the rock to lay out in the late morning sun. It appeared they were in the process of their first shed.
I revisited the site the next day but only saw two babies. I sat for over an hour to see if mom or anymore of the babies would come out. Only the two reappeared. For some reason I couldn't get any decent photos today. I did observe one of the babies yawn. I wish I could have got that shot!
