Yeah, it's usually that simple, but the Az field guide says the males usually have blue speckles on the back and tail. They show a striped one and call it a female....But I seldom list the sex...and I'm not going to fix any of mine either. I don't even put the subspecies name for utas...

Janine, the striped one's are females. The speckly one's are males, but i seldom record the sex for these either.
